OBJECT OF ACTIVITY
Elaboration and dissemination of hydrological warnings and forecasts (short, medium and long term) for the rivers and for the Danube.
Hydrological warning and forecasts elaboration (short, medium and long term, floods and winter phenomena):
Collection, spatial and temporal validation and daily storing of the hydrological data provided by the river gage stations and storage reservoirs in Romania (420 river gage stations and 170 storage reservoirs);
Elaboration of daily hydrological diagnoses and forecasts for rivers and for the Danube;
elaboration of medium term hydrological diagnoses and forecasts (1 up to 7 days) for the Danube starting with its entrance in our country and for the whole Romanian sector and for some hydrometrical stations placed in the following rivers: Crisul Repede, Crisul Negru, Crisul Alb, Somes, Mures, Arges, Siret and Prut;
Assurance of hydrological warning regarding dangerous phenomena (floods, winter phenomena) based on meteorological forecast and elaboration of hydrological forecasts and elaboration of hydrological forecasts during these phenomena (their evolution and maximum forecasted values);
Eaboration of monthly hydrological forecasts (10 days renewal) and also seasonal forecasting for rivers, the Danube and storage reservoirs (40 river gages stations, 64 storage reservoirs and for the Danube starting with its entrance in our country).
Daily drawing up of the hydrological bulletins regarding the hydrological diagnosis and prognosis for the rivers and the Danube, both for normal situations and for dangerous hydrological phenomena.
Ten days and monthly drawing up of medium and long term bulletins for the main rivers, storage reservoirs and for the Danube.
Elaboration and distribution of technical reports regarding hydrological phenomena in order to meet the central decision level requirements.
Creation and keeping up to date of the specific operational data base.
Analysis of the methods used to elaborate hydrological forecasts in order to improve them.
Guidance for hydrological forecasting activity within the Water Divisions.

OBJECT OF ACTIVITY
Developing studies, analyses, research projects, modelling of the aquatic systems quality, the influence of rivers regularization on the aquatic environment, the ecological condition of the aquatic systems and defining measures to protect the "surface water condition".
Modelling regarding the pollutant transport in the river bed.
Organizing field measurements referring to the pollutant transport models calibration.
Appling / developing ecological models on pilot basins in order to solve different ecological problems.
Elaborating studies regarding the current law modifying and adapting to the European Union legislation requiremen
Projects / studies elaborating / participating regarding the human impact (punctual and diffuse) on the environment.
Elaborates applicable studies regarding the improving of the self—purification conditions for rivers (e.g. using different types of vegetation as potential filter for nutrients) as well as measurements packages in order to reduce pollutants, increase the quality of the aquatic systems and generally speaking the ecological condition of water courses.
Developing studies regarding the ecological condition of the water courses, from the main water quality parameters point of view, in order to draw up the projects referring to the aquatic systems dynamics, ecologically speaking.
